Collepietra / Steinegg

Apart from this beautiful experience you can also visit the pyramids of soil in Steinegg, that have been formed by the erosion of rain and the snow melts during the Ice Age in the territory. This spectacle can be seen on the "passeggiata delle piramidi“ (path of the pyramids).
The museum that you can visit in Steinegg was built in 1984 and is an exhibition, or rather, a testimony of every days life and work of the ancestors. In addition to these cultural treasures, there is a castle located in Collepietra, that in the distant year 1230 served as a defensive fortress against the South. Today you can visit the ruins and only a few parts of the wall, as in the seventeenth century the owners of the castle have left and the building is then forfeited.

Apart from its cultural diversity, Steinegg with its myriad hiking trails represents a paradise for mountain lovers. In this spectacular landscape you can spend wonderful days, enjoying the beauties and features offered by mother nature. The “Ritterweg” (path that leads from Steinegg to Karneid), the “Taufenweg”, the village tour and many other trails are part of a dense network of paths of various difficulty, that makes Collepietra the ideal destination for those, seeking an exciting and unforgettable excursion area. In winter there is the possibility to spend a wonderful time in the nearby ski resort “Carezza Ski”, which guarantees with its 40 kilometers of slopes and sunny terraces fun to alpine skiers until spring time. All passionate cross-country skiers will find trails with various grades of difficulty.
