In the middle of unspoiled nature, full of green meadows and forests and majestic mountains, lies the valley of Tires (ital. val di Tires), near the natural park Sciliar-Catinaccio. It is a valley beside the Isarco Valley (ital. val d'Isarco), running parallel to the valley of Ega (ital. val d'Ega) and is situated in the south of the Sciliar massif. It is home to various villages like for example Tires (1.028m) and St. Cyprian (1.071m), which represent ideal starting points for practicing a wide variety of winter and summer sports. >>><<<
In the valley that specialized on tours with snow shoes, which are called in Italian "Ciaspolade", you can enjoy the spectacular views of the Rosengarten (ital. Catinaccio) and the Vajolet towers (ital. Torri Vajolet). It offers its guests guided tours and the opportunity to rent the equipment on site.
Both villages are therefore ideal for those who search relaxation and tranquility in the midst of nature, without stress and chaos. The untouched nature is ideal for walks and excursions in summer and in winter.
Tires is part of the organization "Alpine Pearls" (ger. Alpenperlen) which promotes sustainable tourism. The tourists have the possibility to get from one place to another by using public means of transport, without moving their car.
In any case you must visit the water mill of the village and the so-called „Plague Chapel“ of San Sebastiano (ital. cappella della peste). The chapel, built as a reminder of the plague, is located in a secluded and isolated clearing in the woods and a place that invites to silent prayer. The mill on the other hand is located near the town and you can visit the restored and good working internal part of it.
